Desniveles

2016

Wood, Roof Tiles, Time
Dimensions Variable

Desniveles explores the relationship between a simple object and the projections it casts.  The tiles on wood structures seem like a roof and together, become neighborhood, community, city. However, the architectural idea and completeness they portray is a cultural construction generated by association of ideas. In fact, the structures are nothing like a roof in terms of size, scale and foremost in utility, taking away the possibility of being used as that to what they resemble.

In opposition to the heftiness of the tiles, the wood structures are characterized by a strange lightness and illogical configuration —they are not meant to be efficient, but to represent an arrangement that lacks effectiveness and intentionally wastes time.
